Ronald Johnson served as President of Malone College from 1995 to 2007. Before his inauguration, he had already been an established member of the Malone community, beginning as a student in 1960 and beginning his Malone career in 1970 as an assistant professor of physics. His standing would improve over the next decade, and by 1979 he was a full professor. In 1981, he became the Chief Academic Officer, a position retitled Provost in 1991. During his years as a leader prior to being appointed President, he oversaw new program development and physical transformations across campus. During his presidency, Malone was awarded multiple distinctions, including recognition by the Templeton Foundation and the U.S. news and World Report's list of America's Best Colleges. He also oversaw three successful reaccreditations and an endowment increase of 500%. The collection contains a cubic foot of papers, photographs, audio cassettes, articles and cards. Many papers concerning Johnson's inauguration, including mailing lists, correspondence, and promotional material drafts, originated from different committee members planning the event. Similar papers exist for the planning of the school's 40th anniversary in Canton celebration. Other materials are papers from the Office of the President, including agendas, minutes, and official documents that had been kept in Johnson's possession during his time in office. Because he was an active member of the school's leadership prior to his inauguration and retained records from his predecessors, some materials predate his own presidency. Articles from different newspapers and magazines concerning Johnson and events taking place during his tenure have also been included. The collection as a whole provides a unique insight to the inner workings of the university.
